Illustrative. The number only goes up, so the holder’s next tap is always the newest.
Illustrative. The seal proves the record without naming anyone.
As simple as possible for the buyer. As hard as possible for anyone else.
Ben, you asked how a buyer claims the passport when no optician will register the sale, and how to keep it simple with the best security. Here is the answer: about a minute at home, nothing new for the optician, and a proof nobody in the shop can copy.
The engraved serialA tap of the frameAn invoice
The simple answers are simple for everyone.
An invoice
Receipts are now made with AI. They were 71% of the fakes AppZen flagged by May 2026, up from none in March 2025. Invoices in the UAE and India carry no signature we could check.
The serial or the QR
Anyone in the shop can photograph them before the sale.
A tap of the frame
Every shopper, member of staff and courier can do it. It proves the frame is genuine, not that you bought it.
Proof of purchase has to be something only the buyer holds, and only after the sale.
A sealed card in every case. It knows if it has been opened.
The case carries an Owner’s Card, closed by a tear strip, with a small security chip inside: the NXP NTAG 424 DNA TagTamper. A wire loop runs through the strip. Tear it, and the chip records opened, permanently. Nobody can switch it back.
Every tap gives a one-time code that only our server can verify, so a copied tap is worth nothing.
Your opticians do nothing new. They hand over the case, as they do today.
- The tear strip. A wire loop runs through it.
- The chip. It records opened, for good.
At the till, one second.
Sara collects her Project 01 from her optician in Dubai. Before she leaves, she holds her phone to the sealed card in the case lid.
Her phone says Sealed, never opened. Had it said the seal was opened before, she would ask for another frame there and then.
That one second catches anyone along the way who opened the card early.
At home that evening, about a minute.
- She tears the strip and taps the card. The TrataTech Wallet opens in her browser.
- She holds her phone to the temple tip of her frame.
- She saves a passkey with Face ID.
- She presses Register this frame to me.
The frame’s chip sits in the temple tip, where the Project series already carries one.
Registered to her, final in 30 days, with two more years of warranty.
- The temple tip. The frame’s own chip.
- The Owner’s Card
Whoever keeps the frame and the card wins.
For 30 days, the store’s return window, the claim stays correctable. If anyone else tries to register Sara’s frame, she is told, and one tap of the frame she is wearing settles it.
- A forged invoice
- Invoices are never proof.
- A photo of the QR or serial
- Neither counts toward a claim.
- Staff open the card and reseal it
- The chip says opened, for good. Sara sees it at the till.
- Staff register it before the sale
- Sara’s newer taps beat theirs in the first 30 days.
- A SIM swap
- Text codes can’t move ownership. It takes a passkey and a tap.
A mistake can always be put right. A record can never be faked.
Ownership lives in records we can correct: a return, a gift, a dispute. Privacy law requires it, and it means no slip ever becomes permanent.
Once a day we seal those records with a fingerprint that proves nobody changed them afterwards, us included. Sara’s name is never part of it.
In year two, when a hinge needs repair, her optician taps the frame and sees it is genuine, registered and under warranty. No receipt to find.
Let’s test it on a Project 01.
The design is agreed on paper. Next comes the physical proof: the tear strip with a card maker, the temple-tip chip’s range on five phones, and the minute at home with real buyers.
Everything on this page is illustrative, including Sara, her optician, the dates and the screens. The Owner’s Card is a proposal: the tear strip and the read range are confirmed by prototype. The Project series already carries a chip in the temple tip; whether the claim builds on it or on a new one is decided with John Dalia.
